Nassef Sawiris owns opulent residences in London, New York City, and Egypt, but never in Los Angeles. Sawiris was the enigmatic buyer who paid $24 mιllιon for a stunningly magnificent and picturesque home in Trousdale Estates, one of Beverly Hills’ most exclusive areas, a few months ago.
Onsi Sawiris’ youngest son, Sawiris, was born and raised in Cairo. The Orascom Group, which his father founded, has holdings in construction, tourism, hospitality, technology, and media. Nassef has established himself as a shrewd businessman, owning shares in some of the most valuable sports franchises and businesses in the world. According to Forbes, Sawiris, Adidas’ largest shareholder, is worth $7 billion, which is more than his two older brothers combined.
However, Sawiris is perhaps most known in America for his work with Kanye West. In September, West captioned a Sawiris photo “Sooooo much positivity” on his popular Instagram account.
On one of Trousdale’s most desirable slopes is the Beverly Hills modernist Sawiris estate, built in the late 1960s. By the middle of the 2000s, the one-story house had undergone a string of disastrous renovations that gave it an oddly Greco-Roman interpretation of modernism, complete with several white columns.
The property was purchased by seasoned real estate developer Edward “Eddie” Israel in 2009. Israel, a Los Angeles apartment and condo landlord, paid $5.1 million for the decrepit house and recruited architect William Hefner to refurbish it. The house was leveled and extended after few years.
Judge for yourself, but the estate is now more trendy than ever, with unusually high ceilings, glass walls, and blonde hardwood flooring. Steven Price’s now-out-of-print book “Trousdale Estates: Midcentury to Modern in Beverly Hills” put it on the cover in 2017.
