Delicious, cheap, an easy side dish to make, Apronese believes that there is no reason to refuse to learn how to make it to entertain the whole family, right?

Cornbread: What to Serve with It

With thick and hearty soups, stews, and chilis, cornbread is a great accompaniment. The cornbread is delicious with soups, stews, and chilis.

It can be dipped or crumbled into the sauce. I love it with: Slow Cooker Vegetarian Lentil Chili, Weeknight Black Bean Chili, Glazed Pork Chops, Mexican Red Lentil Stew. For breakfast, it goes great with eggs.

Cornbread Add-Ins

Consider adding some more flavour to your cornbread by adding your favorite ingredients such as cheddar cheese, corn kernels that have been roasted, diced green peppers or jalapeos, chili powder, blueberries, or even some cooked sausage if you like.

How to Choose a Baking Dish

In spite of the fact that I prefer this glass pie dish to bake my cornbread in, you can use any baking dish you like.

As the oven preheats, you will need to pre-preheat the skillet.

A casserole dish of 8*8 inches, or a 10-inch cast iron skillet, would be ideal for this amount of batter.

The best cooking pans are those made of glass, ceramic, and cast iron; however, metal baking dishes can also be used.

Make Corn Muffins Instead

You can bake this recipe in a muffin tin lined with cooking spray.

Fill each well about 3/4 full, and bake at the same temperature for 16-18 minutes, or until golden brown on top. You will get about ten corn muffins from this recipe (see step by step pictures below).

Cornbread from Scratch: How to Make it – Step by Step Photos

Cornbread Dry Ingredients
A 9-inch pie pan or a casserole dish that is 8*8 inches in size should be prepared by pre-heating the oven to 425 degrees and spraying it with non-stick spray.

This recipe consists of one cup yellow cornmeal, one cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 4 tablespoons baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Make sure that these ingredients are really well mixed together.
Milk Oil Egg
In a separate bowl, whisk together one cup of milk, one large egg, and one-fourth cup of cooking oil until well combined.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
After mixing the dry ingredients with the wet, pour the mixture into the bowl.
Cornbread Batter
You are supposed to stir the batter only until all of the ingredients are moistened.

It would be foolish to over stir the batter since that can develop the gluten in the flour and make the end product a little rubbery, so it’s okay if there are a few lumps in the batter.

You do not want to over stir the batter, so let it sit for a moment before proceeding.
Fill Dish with Cornbread Batter
If you do have an oven, set it at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, cook the batter for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or until the top and edges are golden brown.

The exact baking time will vary depending on the type of dish and the temperature in your oven.

Alternatively, you can fill the wells of an oiled muffin tin 3/4 full with batter and bake for about 10 minutes.

Depending on how golden brown they are on top, bake them for 16-18 minutes at the same temperature.
