I find it more convenient to make random meals from leftover ingredients in my fridge than it is to store them in an individual container.

I have discovered some of my favorite flavors by experimenting with them.

This week, I had leftover cooked rice in my refrigerator, some pineapple and some green onions that were just about to turn green.

Basically, I threw a sweet and spicy twist on my favorite Spinach Rice Breakfast Bowl and created these tasty Pineapple Sriracha Breakfast Bowls out of it.

The way I see it is that it is sort of like fried rice, but without going through the process of stir frying, and making just one bowl at a time. I am quite fond of this method.

When knowing this dish, Apronese thought: this is an extremely easy dish to make, it doesn’t cost much but it’s also delicious, why don’t you try it.

Breakfast Bowls with Pineapple and Sriracha

Breakfast Bowls Can be Customized

There is a good chance that you have cooked rice, pineapple, and green onions sitting around in your fridge.

Obviously, the chances that you will have these ingredients on hand are low, but I think it could be inspirational and helpful to just see how someone throws them together in such a way.

It is also worth mentioning that I think the following random things would also make a good addition to this bowl:

  • bell peppers
  • peas
  • broccoli florets
  • cashews
  • jalapeños
  • ham

You can really throw anything into a bowl and come up with something new and delicious every time and it is very easy to prepare.

I love “bowl” recipes simply because you can just start throwing things in and you will always come up with something new and delicious after every use.

There Are No Price Estimates?

Since I feel like I would have to do a great deal of estimating for this one, I will skip doing the price estimates.

When I purchased the whole pineapple, I did not have any idea what the price was of one small handful of chopped pineapple and I did not know how much it cost for a few drops of sesame oil compared to the whole fruit I had purchased.

Considering there is only about one cup of cooked rice, one egg, a few splashes of soy sauce and sriracha, and one tablespoon of brown sugar, I think it’s safe to say that a meal relying upon that combination is going to be pretty darn cheap (even if my eggs have been running $0.27 per dozen lately).

Pineapple Sriracha Breakfast Bowls: How to Make Them – Step by Step Photos

Cooked rice in a bowl
The best way to make a bowl of rice is to cook it at the beginning of the week. It is sometimes a great idea to make a large amount of rice at the beginning of each week.

You can use it throughout the week as a variety of meals, such as burritos (or burrito bowls), stir-fries, breakfast bowls, and many others.

In order for me to reheat the rice, I simply put it in a bowl and microwave it for about 30 seconds. You may want to sprinkle some water on top of the rice if it seems a little dry in the fridge.
Soy sauce and sriracha added to cooked rice
It is recommended to season the rice with a little bit of sriracha, soy sauce, and sesame oil once it is warm.

As I was making the sauce, I used about a teaspoon of soy sauce and a teaspoon of sriracha, as well as a few shakes of my tiny sesame oil bottle, which is very strong and nutty in taste.
Pineapple and Green Onions added to the bowl
Add the pineapple and finely sliced green onions to the seasoned rice, and stir to combine them all together until the pineapple and green onions are evenly distributed throughout.
Bowl topped with Fried Egg
Let’s finish off this recipe by boiling an egg, leaving the yolk slightly runny, then placing it on top of the seasoned rice bowl with the egg, and enjoy.

In fact, I would quite like to see someone open a restaurant where only stuff like this would be available. Perhaps with all the ingredients ready to go so you can build your own bowl as you go.

Oh wait, that’s what Chipotle is, right? Hmmm, seems strange.
