Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
It is fast, easy, and delicious to roast your own pumpkin seeds as a delicious byproduct of pumpkin carving. Roasted pumpkin seeds are an easy and delicious fall treat to try at home.
- If you want to bake pumpkin seeds, first preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Rinse the pumpkin seeds in a colander and remove any remaining pumpkin flesh that might be attached to the seeds. Now place the cornmeal in a cotton dishcloth and pat them dry (the seeds might not feel totally dry because of their slippery coating).
- It is important to wash and dry the pumpkin seeds and then sprinkle them with cooking oil and seasoning. Combine these ingredients and stir until you have a well-coated bowl of pumpkin seeds. Place the coated seeds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and spread them in a single layer.
- You will need to roast the roasted pumpkin seeds in a preheated oven for around 15 to 20 minutes, stirring every 5-10 minutes until the seeds are golden brown and nutty in flavor. The roasting time will vary depending on the size of the seeds and the level of moisture in the seeds.
In this recipe, you can use your favorite cooking oil for high heat, as well as your favorite seasoning blend (see notes above for seasoning ideas).
