I’m gonna walk you through the process of chopping fresh, sweet watermelon. It’s one of my favorite simple pleasures during the summer months.
If you’re intimidated at all by the thought of cutting into one of these things, here is a quick tutorial for you that will show you how to do it all! In this guide, we will show you how to cut watermelon into classic wedges, or into batons that are easy to eat.
It has been my pleasure to share with you two different methods for cutting watermelon in this tutorial—classic wedges and batons—which are two methods which have both been used for centuries.
If you want to eat watermelon on a hand-held device, wedges are a great choice, but batons are a smaller size and easier to eat without getting juice all over your face (especially for little hands).
In addition, once you have the watermelon batons cut into batons, it’s very easy to then cut those batons into cubes to use in salads.

How to Cut Watermelon – Step by Step Photos
You can either make a thin slice off the side of the watermelon or cut off the end of the watermelon so you can create a flat, stable base.
If you’re using a longer watermelon, slicing from the side will be easier and it will be not as tall once you stand it on the cut side.
It is best to stand the watermelon up on the side that has just been cut flat, then cut it down the center across the entire width of the watermelon.
On the cutting board, lay one half of the watermelon with the cut side down, then slice it in half down the middle, then cross the center and slice it into 1-inch slices by cutting on an angle.
This is one of the classic watermelon wedge dishes, and if you wanted to take it a step further, you can try these watermelon wedges.
You will need to turn the watermelon 90 degrees again in order to make square slices. Each of those squares will serve as the handle on a simple to eat watermelon baton that you can enjoy with your family and friends.
There’s nothing better than a relaxing summer filled with lots of delicious watermelon and a lot of ice cold cocktails.
If you immediately grind watermelon smoothie, sit right on the beach to catch the cool breeze, Apronese thinks there is nothing more interesting.
